Turns out the border into Azerbaijan out of Kakheti (eastern Georgia) is "not equipped" to handle international entries, so one must obtain a visa from the embassy in Tbilisi.

We stayed up all evening watching the news, and were greatly heartened by Condoleeza Rice's extremely frank statements on the need to end Russian aggression in the area. Also, we saw an interview with Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov on BBC which was quite laughable. The difference between his Cold War era rhetoric and the educated discussion from Georgian leaders has been laudable, though I have to say that President Saakashvili still looks and sounds like a spoiled child sometimes (sorry devotees). In any case, I think the Georgian leadership represented themselves well in international diplomatic circles during this crisis.

Looks like Russia has no choice but to pull back, we're all waiting just a little longer to see if they will.
