two bits of alarming news
News today has been somewhat alarming today. Russians continuing to advance, and fighting in the South Ossetia region, despite the "ceasefire" agreement.
More alarming however are reports that North Ossetian and Chechan fighters are looting and killing in villages within the conflict zone. If the country turns into a place where marauders run free, that is far more alarming than a controlled army making tactical hits on military runways far from civilian areas.
The other bit of alarming news is that Bush will send the airforce and navy for "humanitarian assistance." Some extra bread is nice, but what this really means is that the Americans are ready to make a stand against a seriously aggressive Russian invasion force. While diplomats downplay the action, and discuss six point plans etc., serious fighting between the highly technologized Russian and American militaries will be nothing to stick around for.
Therefore, the current plan includes heading to Azerbaijan for a short "vacation" until further notice. Prepare to hear more from me there.
